I am wondering this because I know a few of you had bad experiences with public school, but has anyone been unschooling since birth?

How did you find out about unschooling?

For those that were schooled, How did the transition to unschooling go for you? How long did it take?

How involved is your DH in the unschooling process?

Did you have to convince him of unschooling?

Thanks so much for all of your insight~!

I am wondering this because I know a few of you had bad experiences with public school, but has anyone been unschooling since birth? I guess you could say that since we don't do School at all.

How did you find out about unschooling? I actually just found out about it about 6 months ago and had no idea that was what it is called.

For those that were schooled, How did the transition to unschooling go for you? How long did it take? N/A

How involved is your DH in the unschooling process? Very much involved. He is the one that encouraged me even more to not do "School" type of learning and activities.

Did you have to convince him of unschooling? Nope not at all. He is all for it and feels it is the most natural and best way for our daughter to learn.

Trish :)

has anyone been unschooling since birth? We have - DS has never been schooled, in either home or institution

How did you find out about unschooling? We found out about it about the same time we discovered homeschooling in general - DS was still in utero and MIL needed help with what to do with the two youngest (DH is 15 and 17 yrs respectively older than his 2 youngest sisters) who were having problems with school (long story there). We were doing all sorts of research and stumbled upon several things, including the old unschooling.com message board.

How involved is your DH in the unschooling process? VERY since he's the at home parent (I WOH fulltime)

Did you have to convince him of unschooling? Hardly - it's how he learns best and would have preferred if it was an option when he was growing up (he graduated high school as the homeschooling "movement" was starting to take off - I was already out of college by then). What was more difficult (for both of us) was changing the overall way we parent, getting rid of lots of un-thought-through habits that really just didn't fit. Once we changed one "must do" (going to school) everything else was open for questioning.
