E-mailed also to cmdanielle:

Hi, I understand the need to close the unschooling board but please, please...

"we will be closing this board and redirecting to the grade appropriate board for your child's level."

... don't direct the unschoolers to "the grade-appropriate board" for their child's level. This is not how unschooling works. It would be totally useless for unschoolers. Unschooled families do not learn and think in boxes like "middle school" or "first-graders" or anything of the sort. This is what sets us apart. We think globally and holistically and take delight in areas where our children don't fit in any particular "levelled" box.

What unschoolers need is a non-age-specific folder in the general homeschooling board. Please!

Thanks for your support. I got a very prompt and supportive e-mail back from Danielle saying she'll try to make that happen. Stay tuned.

Hi, sorry for the hat, but I'm in a hurry this morning--just wanted you to know that Danielle DID contact the cl's of the Homeschooling board in reference to this and we are all on board with the addition of the folder.  I'm so sorry that this board is closing--I know things happen, and I hope the transition will be a smooth one.  I know some of you post on both boards--for those who don't, you are most welcome on the hsing board and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.  I know you'll have some great input to add.  Please let us know if there's anything in specific that you'd like us to do to help in the transition.  My email is smercy@tds.net in case I forget to check back here, and anything you email to me I will forward to the other cl's.  We have a daily "Homeschool Moms Recess" thread (here is today's http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-pphschooling&msg=6967.1&ctx=0) that you're welcome to post in, and also a weekly review thread posted on Fridays.  And of course, anything else you want to chime in on--it's a friendly board and we've tried to keep it as open and broad as we can.
