I am SO sad this board is closing...and would definitely like to second the OPs opinion that Unschoolers should go to the Homeschooling board vs. any sort of "grade level" boards! Ugh!!!
Haven't been here for a bit. Just saw this post stating that this board is closing?
FYI iVillage, but I left the "Homeschooling" board, as it didn't apply to us! We are "LIFE LEARNERS"! (I prefer to use the term as it applies to our lifestyle ;-)
Most people (the one's who aren't doing it), think to "Homeschool" just means as long as you are keeping your children out of the public school system, you are "Homschooling". But "Unschooling" is completely different than HSing!
It's frustrating enough, that I have to say we "Homeschool" to strangers who ask my DD where she goes to school,(how about coming up with something more original people?). I got tired of people looking at me with a BLANK on their face when I've said, "We Unschool". Forget saying we "Life Learn", that would be even harder to grasp for the majority of people.
So good luck to all the members who are going to continue on to the HSing board.
I would rather not for many reasons.
