Hi Nycha,
Welcome to the vaccination debate board. First off your son Jayden is really cute. Nice siggy.
If you read back in the posts on the board you'll find out we did vax, we did trust our Doctor, etc. Alas we did this for 18 months including a more aggressive hep b vaccine schedule because I am a carrier.
However my daughter had several adverse events after hep b vaccination involving seizures. We were LUCKY - no permanent damage but when our Doctor said to us she was stopping Hep B vaccination and writing public health because she was worried. We started to ask questions and do some research and were SHOCKED at what we found out. We have since decided to no longer vaccinate. I like to make my bias known right away :)
This is the process we used to do our research: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-ppvaccinedb&ft=1&ctx=128&cacheTag=x10-28&ld=8/21/2008%2016:34&gfc=1&msg=4252.2
I personally believe that ALL parents should go through a similar process, even those that vaccinate, to ensure they are making "informed" decisions and understand all the issues.
I wish I had taken the time to do my own research on the topic prior to ever having DD vaccinated. I BLINDLY trusted my Doctor. Never again.
So long as a parent has made an "informed" decision to vaccinate (or not) I can respect both decisions equally.
"I feel bad for all those babies and kids who are not being vaccinated:("
I don't feel bad for children that are being "vaccinated" or being "unvaccinated" - it's a personal decision and I respect other people's decisions about how they wish to treat their children whether or not I personally agree/disagree. I simply ask for the same respect in return.
