Well, ds (9) came home from school yesterday, glassy eyed, flush and seemed hot. His temp was 98...then an hour later it was 102.5

Took him to the doctor today (after I called them to see if I should or just do the fluids thing at home). They said come on in and low and behold after he was swabbed type A influenza most probably H1N1. The kicker is, the child is bouncing off the walls as usual, lol. He is running a slight fever today and has a decreased appetite but other wise it's hardly noticeable he's sick. Keeping up the fluids and waiting it out.

Oh well, now to watch the other two (and myself).

Dee

I just got my test results back today and was confirmed H1N1 flu.. i am a severe asthmatic as well, and strangely enough, it didnt' really make my asthma any worse... just lots of coughing and my lungs were really sore for about 4 days, but i was vigilant in using my inhalers, and took extra squirts of it, and went to the dr as soon as i suspected anything. I actually felt worse when i had bronchitis in july. My 3 unvaxed kids all came thru it well too..only had the fever and aches for a couple days, and tired, and all bounced back within the week. I really didn't give them the med the dr prescribed because it made them sick to their stomach. They all got the standard care when ill..forcing fluids, ibuprofen for uncomfortable aches, and lots of rest. And proper nutrition too.
I still cant help but wonder if this flu affects fully vaxed kids totally different than totally unvaxed kids. The kids dr was telling me of how horrible it is in some kids to where he had to hospitalize them.

I was battling with this all last week (thus my obfuscation) back and forth between my two youngsters. Fine one day... then spikey fever the next. We don't have a thermoter at the house, so I couldn't tell you how high they got, but when I had to pick them up at daycare it was 102.9.

Between us and the inlaws, we've been taking care of them. My hypothesis is H1N1, but, I have not taken them in. Battled with two days myself of the icks and feeling like crap - but as I'm sure most of us can contest, as mothers, we just don't get the down time to be sick, so I can't tell you if I had it or not.

They weren't eating, and did not care to drink either, but we forced fluids down them. So far, the major battle was getting them to drink fluids.
