I just want to say that I heart the FOI act. The things they said, wow. I mean really I read this piece with my mouth hanging open.
As far as the science goes, science is usually nothing more than theory anyway, we learn new things everyday that challenges former conclusions, why is this different? People in the scientific community make me wonder why they take such a hard nosed stance on this as they know that science, especially microbiology, is ever evolving. As knowledge expands we need to examine the new possibilities. It is beyond me why people in the science field turn off their ears when this topic comes up and dismiss any new hypothesis as bunk without even looking at it themselves. We are taught in school (biology major) to question everything, to take no one's word but when the word vaccine comes up that does not apply? We should just accept the word of people with proven conflicts of interest? That goes against what I was taught, I am sorry. The problem with current vaccine research is that it just accepts what it is told without questioning. Vaccines are good is the mantra and there is no need to examine the reasons they believe that to be true. Why? The sun no longer is believed to revolve around the earth, right? Sometimes things we believe to be true for decades or centuries even turn out to be not exactly as we once thought. Where would we be if no one ever questioned things that are supposedly scientific certainties? For such an evolved scientific community they have certainly reverted back to the time where Galileo was mocked (and imprisioned) for his assertions.
