Well, I DID have my older kids signed up at work for the seasonal flu shot, but now they are cancelling it for dependents under 18, so I have to try to get them into the pediatrician's shot clinic which may be full now, ugh! Now I hear there is a shortage, as my company has postponed its flu shot program in some locations (not mine yet, at least for employees). (FYI, I work for a health insurance company, thus the at-work program.)
Anyone know what the story is on the shortage? Are the vaccine companies shifting resources to H1N1 and causing a shortage in the regular shot?
I work at a research hospital, so we also get work provided shots. They've had several employee clinics the last couple weeks, but had to shut down early twice, because they ran out.

My work only received 70% of their order, and have run out so are postponing their clinics until they get more. The memo does say the shortage is due to a high priority placed on H1N1 vaccine manufacture.

The hospital I work at was also having flu clinics for employees and "roaming flu stations" .. they've stopped both of those. The pharmacy has said it's because pharmaceutical resources have been put toward making H1N1 vaccine.
We "ration" flu shots for patients, and are not using the multi-dose vials, only the single-dose, preservative-free syringes for patients of all ages. I assume they are carrying that product this year and not the multi-dose vials so there is less waste -- since we've always carried and administered from a vial in the past.
Called the ped today and the clinic there on Nov 7 is in jeopardy. I have my little one registered for that. They're not taking any more reservations since it looks like they won't have any shots for that date anyway. So looks like we're out of luck on the seasonal flu shot. Still no H1N1 shots here. The first case of H1N1 was confirmed at my older DD's high school.
So I guess I'll just be worried until March or so, on top of the normal mommy worry!
