Do you make sure your dc take any supplements? And what do they take?

Since he's interested in going vegan (although it's definitely a "going"), I have him taking a vegetarian kids' multi-vitamin as well as the Methyl B12 that I also take. I'm still learning how to meet his needs as a vegetarian, so I feel it's better safe than sorry as far as the supplements are concerned.

My boys take trader joe's gummy worm type vitamins. The problem I have with them is my youngest son is a food hoarder (due to being hungry before he was adopted) and likes nothing better than to get up in the middle of the night and eat an entire bottle of vitamins. This has happened twice-by the way poison control says if there is no iron in your vitamin there is no need to worry about overdose-so now the vitamins are kept waaaay in the back closet of the master bedroom. It is a pain hauling them out each day.

I am a teacher for medically fragile teenagers, DH and I are equally sharing the care of our two fantastic boys and a house full of furbabies!

I give Vangie a B12 supplement a couple times a week. In the winter I'll probably give her Vitamin D a few times a week too. :o)

Oh and I guess she also has flax seed in her oatmeal every day.

Well that's good you know about no worries on overdose if there's no iron. I can imagine that would be frustrating, worrying about him eating the whole bottle. With Finn, I have to stand there and make sure he swallows his vitamin. My search for a vegetarian teen vitamin is not going well; I'm thinking I may try a gummy vitamin that's veggie- maybe he won't dislike it so much, but he has to wait until the current bottle is done lol. He probably won't like what I get him anyway, but I don't think he should be getting an adult vitamin, just so he doesn't have to chew it.
