I am new on this site, One of my biggest innterests is healthy eating and love for animals and nature.

My dowser gave me a huge "no" for some organic/raw cream I have, a no for organic 1/2 and 1/2, a no for sour cream, a yes for tofu cream cheese. No for one kind of cheese. I was surprised i got a yes for cheese from England that i got in a specialty store? i got huge "yes" that my water is safe for me to drink without a purefier. I got a yes for the fish i have in the freezer. The best fish market on the coast. I still decided to limit fish to once a week. My dowser is quite accurate.

I don't eat animals. Eggs once in a while but only if i know the farm and know the chickens are outside playing. I have to go try the dowswer on the eggs!!!!!!!!!!! I do very well with veggies and fruit, love this time of year, from the ground to the mouth. Made a great pumpkin soup. I am cleaning up my act. every time i re add dairy, i gain a couple of pounds and get concerned about health. No reason for cows to be milked when their babies don't need it. no reason to take the baby cows from the moms and give us their milk. Not right. my friend told me, even in the organic farms, when the cows are thought with the milking days, they get slaughtered for meat.

The positive, I saw an article on the factory farms with pictures in Time magazine, so maybe the public will start to read this. Most are ostriches. I am not ready to be pure vegan, altho I lean towards it. Leila

Welcome to the board, leilade! It looks like you are "transitioning" to vegetarianism if you still eat fish; but it's great that you care about animals and healthy eating!! Hope to see you around!

Hi Amelia,

I have not eaten meat or chicken for years. I hear that chicken is the most contaminated. after i read skinny bitch, I was depressed for 2 months, I followed it up with a similar book to make sure what i read was true. I can't look at animals in packages in the super market. It all breaks my heart. I am always working on my spirituality, trying to be more loving, less complaining, more positive and the more i believe we are all one and connected, the more I am one with animals. It is like they are doing the cruelty to me. I take it very personally. Let the world be educated and feel more love and less greed, more concern for the planet and REAL foods to sustain life. Yesterday eve my nurse friends at work, were eating big steaks, fries, dipping them in something white. I asked one gal if she ate when she got home at 12:30 AM, she said, she has a big dish of ice ceam. Obviously, she doesn't look healthy. No color in their plates. Not one veggie to be seen. Professionals- On the way to being sick. i keep quiet, had to smell the meat and look at it.

I had my pumpkin soup with white beans, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, tofu yogurt. I am amazed at the loss of interest in health and what poeple think is good food. I ocassionally slip and start to add more dairy, we don't need any dairy. It is good to be surrounded by like minded people. I work with a gal whose mom drinks milk by the gallons. I asked how her bones are, they are brittle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the oldest and most energetic nurse in the place. I like to be the power of example, no one has put together that much of my energy is my diet. sure there is genetics, but food is medicine. Leila

Hi Leila,

Once again, I find myself agreeing with you. I, too, see the interconnectedness of life. We are all "earthlings", are we not? What gives me the right to kill and eat another creature just because I am smarter and able to?

My frustration is that no matter how much I do for the environment or whether I am vegan or not, animals are still tortured and are suffering. It is so depressing!

So hang in there, and maybe together we can change the world one person at a time!! :-)

Amelia

It will have to change. It may get worse first but can't continue as it is harming all people and causing disease. They won't be able to keep up with the demand, environments ruined.
I can't see us not eventually going back to the earth.

Leila
