Work at Home Moms

Hi everyone! I've lurked around here for awhile now, I'm not a Mom yet, but I am expecting our first in May :) I've been searching for a new job, as I'm miserable at my current job! Since we know I want to stay at home with the baby, and we aren't 100% sure we can do it on DH's salary alone, I decided to see what is available in the WAH field!

I spent a lot of time browsing and searching and applying this past weekend. I received a call back from a woman this afternoon, who I have set up a meeting with this evening to explore the business further. Has anyone heard of wahcareers.com? I *think* I bounced there from the WAHM website. I guess I should have kept better track of what I applied for lol!

When I spoke to her on the phone she gave me a brief description of the business. It's an "own your own business, but work with a team" type of thing. It's based on referrals and residuals, setting up customers with new accounts. I'm not 100% sold on the working based solely on commission thing, I'm kind of wary of it actually. Has anyone ever done this?

Any advice, tips, suggestions would be well appreciated :) Thank you!!

I haven't heard of that one either.  But as long as their not charging any $$ for the information, its probably worth hearing them out.  Just keep an open mind and always keep in mind what you're comfortable with doing (parties, a lot of computer time, keeping an inventory to "hopefully" sell later, etc.). 

We'd love to hear back from you to see what they're all about.

What you describe...the referrals and the working with a team sounds very much like Melaleuca. You can view the corporate site at www.melaleuca.com They make a wide variety of household products. My suggestion is to try a few products as a customer. See if you like them. If you do, then by all means, give it a shot. I've been in direct sales over 25 years and am a strong direct sales supporter.

Thank you ladies! I decided against it due to the fact that I've never really done sales and would be afraid of trying to live off commission  based income when I had never really done it before. If we were in a position where my income was considered "extra" or a bonus, then I might give it a try!

I'll keep looking and will definitely come back here for advice and to let you all know if I find something :) Thanks again!
