I guess I shouldn't have watched it anyway, but when I read the description of 'Til Death's show titled "Circumdecision" I was curious. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed by the views expressed in the show.

The basic premise was that the main guy's friend lost his swim trunks while swimming and his girlfriend noticed he wasn't circumcised and asked him to get one. Then the rest of the 30 minutes was basically all of their other friends telling him how "disgusting" it was that he wasn't "cleaned up down there". *insert sound of disgust here* Except for the one lone friend that also was not circumcised, everyone acted like it was the most awful thing that could ever happen to anyone!

I sincerely hope that this is not indicative of the type of reception that my baby boy can expect to receive when he is old enough to discuss such things with his friends. : ( Although this was how some people reacted when I told them we were not going to circumcise Evan, I was really hoping that a public format like television would at least try to be a little less biased when presenting an issue such as circumcision to the masses.

Okay, I'm done venting for now.

You need to watch more shows like "According to Jim"...Jim Belushi is actually intact...and the show supports intactness.

I hear that media presentation is strongly swayed towards circ, mainly because the money in the business is controlled by powerful men/women of Jewish faith. I have NO idea if this is true or not, but it would stand to reason that they would support/encourage a ritual that they believe strongly in. Just as I would support/encourage presenting intactness if I was lending the money to the industry. This comment is not meant to be anti-Jewish. I have NOTHING against Jewish people. Just being factual about what I've heard.

There was a movie I watched recently...begins at a wedding...I think it was 27 dresses(I think that's the name? lol) and it begins with a sister/daughter freaking out because she just found out her bf is intact. A comment was made about how she needed to calm down and relax and that an intact penis was actually very "pleasurable" and to enjoy it. I was happy with the way it was positively portrayed.

There are going to be some good comments and bad. Just like BF...there is information and misinformation...those that promote and those that tear down. I don't put any stock in cruel criticism. Usually all you have to do it "consider the source". And cruel criticism can be on either side. Just as we want respect for our choices, we have to learn to give it the other way as well. Catch more bees with honey and all that ;)

First and foremost Allison, much of the hype about intact boys being teased is simply not true out in the real world. Some relative that has been indoctrinated by culture practices in to thinking circumcision is a good thing may stick their nose in to your family choice but just tell them it's not their son, not their penis so butt out. Might also suggest to any and all it is time for them to do some research and get educated on the male anatomy and why the foreskin is there.

As to the media taking up a crusade against RIC rather then making a  joke or repeating false information about a natural penis will be slow to come. There are several influential  groups fighting to maintain this barbaric practice. Among these are medical personnel that either believe cutting the foreskin is a good thing or know better but like the annuity it provides. Then there are the millions of circed male adults who's ego coupled with ignorance of what is taken away by this surgery. Not commonly considered but also a billion dollar industry that uses foreskins as raw material in producing many products. They buy the removed foreskins from medical facilities unless they are donated. Then comes the religious influence. Sense Congress passed the law against FGM in 1996-1997 those who practice MGM are being more active in their attempts to find some medical reasons for removing the foreskin to try and ward off any such law for male genitalia. What was originally just a split in the tip as a marker of faith and sacrifice as a religious tenant seems to have been forgotten. RIC has suddenly become a health benefit that all males should have done.

Circumcised Congress is to wimpy to buck all these groups that control much of our media as well as institutions. The obvious losers in all this are the million plus that are annually relieved of the most important portion of the penis.  After all, egos, profit taking, fetishes and religious beliefs and practices have priority over the welfare of our infant boys and ultimately the adult he will become. Sad but a reality that we can only change one boy at a time by doing what we can to educate. Ultimately those opposed to RIC will win the battle as all the medical and anatomical facts are on the side of the male and his intact penis.
