so Liam was placed on an ed plan earlier this month, we haven't gotten the offical write up which is another vent but part of it has to do with his attention issues and the ed plan mentions he needs to be front and center which he was and now I find out he's been moved now to the back of the class. He said first row back which not quit sure what side that really is and her desk is actually to the corner of one side so possible he is on that side but the other thing he said was it was so when he gets pulled and there are a couple of kids that get pulled for speech so that makes me think its on the opposite side near the door as to not make a disruption but that means he is not very close to her at any point so violating the ed plan!!

I have to met with her soon over Liam's up coming extending medical absence so will inquire more then I guess

I would say you need to follow up on that so he is getting what he needs. Put an email into his teacher and find out what is going on.

First of all, I don't understand why you don't have the writeup. Didn't you develop it with them at the meeting? With my kids, we worked through it and it was written up (on an overhead or smartboard off a computer) and we did everything, signed it and made copies. If there was a disagreement, we came back the same week to try and resolve. They need to get a final copy to you ASAP!

Secondly, sigh...  You're going to have to start following up on this nicely. I am the queen of 504s and IEPs (two IEPs and one 504 kid). My 504 kid is supposed to get written notes whenever she is absent - provided by the teacher. And yet, she still gets, "oh, just talk to one of your friends." That lasts exactly until she gets home and tells me and I am on the phone, emailing, sending copies of the plan. I always try to be nice, but you have to be firm. When she comes back and says, "oh, Liam likes sitting by his friend Susie," or "I didn't want Liam to be the only one to not switch," or "this makes it much easier for him to leave for services," STAND YOUR GROUND.

Okay, off my soapbox, lol! I just hate,  hate, hate when I feel like I'm the IEP police :(

Go to the meeting with your child's teacher but first stop in the counselor's office and ask for a copy of the IEP or 504 or whatever paperwork and find the portion about seating.  During the meeting; casually ask her where your son sits and point out on the official paperwork where he is suppose to have preferential seating.  Making her aware that you know that he isn't sitting in the appropriate place should take care of the problem.  Having a legal document to back it up will insure the problem is taken care of.

had a meeting today not for this for something else, and the seat is now second row back row closest to the door and the rational is they want the kids that get pulled where they will make the least disruption leaving. I'm not going to make an issue at this time, she says she's had no major issues with him (part of me asking to met was to see if what was happening in after school was in regular and he's an angel for her) If things change I will make it an issue but I realize its also for him not just the class, right now he gets pulled for speech, OT and now title 1 services so pretty soon kids start to notice things so if he can just slide out and in and he's not having attention issues where he is I will hold off
