Am I alone in hating Fundraisers?

This year the kids are selling only Frozen foods.. which of course seem pricey. Chesecakes, pizza, snack stuff.. etc.

This year they dangled a carrot in front of the kids.. a Wii for whoever sells the most. <eye roll>

My kid has to sell 5 things to get to even go to the "Main Event".. aka big party for kids to play at. I'll buy one thing but that means she'll have to sell the rest on her own. We have no family here to buy from..only some neighbors we are friendly with and church family.

ugh.. I wonder how the school will even keep this stuff frozen!

I'm with you on the fundraisers. They always have "incentives" for the kids who sell the most. Almost all of my neighbors have kids who go the same school, so I don't ask them. My relatives and friends also have kids who have to do their own fundraisers, so most of them don't buy. I work from home and DH works for the town. I think most of these kids who sell huge amounts of whatever have parents who take their stuff to work so co-workers can buy. I like helping out on the book fair and plant sale because that raises money for the school, but my kids don't have to sell individually and no prizes are given for who sells the most.

I'm with you too, I hate those fundraisers too...Sabrina goes to a charter school, everybody in the neighborhood goes to public schools...So therefore, they have their own fundraisers. I don't work, outside the home, so I don't have a workplace to sell at. I don't eat sugar, so I won't buy candy or whatever it is, just to have it sit in my pantry and feed it to Sabrina. Once in awhile I'll buy the frozen sweet rolls, that you pop in the oven to bake, cuz those work as a quick weekend breakfast for Sabrina and my husband, but that's it.

I'll go to the fundraisers at school or wherever they happen to be, and support them that way, like tonight...they're doing a fundraiser at the skating rink...we'll be there, but I'm not interested in anything to do with candy or order forms.

JMHO...

I'm right there with ya, Janet!

It's especially hard to sell things here because we have neighborhood schools; everyone in our subdivision goes to the same elementary school, & when Sherina left there in May I was ecstatic (but for that reason only!)

The 5th grade school has no fundraisers; instead they ask for a one-time donation based on what last year's families donated.  This year they're asking for $30 per family.  Considering there's 3 K-4 schools with about 4 fourth grade classes, they should get lots of money out of this year's class!  We haven't donated as of yet; money's just too tight!

I think it's those junky "incentives" that annoy me the most!  I told Travis long ago that I'd give him a couple bucks to spend at the Dollar Store instead of worrying about not getting the trinket for selling 5 things, etc.

Our fall fundraiser is the Entertainment coupon books ($20) and Fannie May ($11 a box!) candy.  We have a very small family, dh won't sell at work, I work from home, the grandparents are retired and on fixed incomes, and we won't sell to neighbors.  So he doesn't ever sell very much of anything!
