Our DS is six weeks old now and has been sleeping next to us in a bassinet at night. I'd been putting him in his crib in the nursery for afternoon naps, but last night we decided to try out his own room and he did great!!! I was ticked, though, that by 9am when i woke up on my new internal baby alarm, the monitor's battery had died. They should at least last the night, right? I guess we'll have to keep it on the charger instead of on my pillow.

Anyway, I wanted to ask... how old were/are your little ones when you started putting them in their own rooms? Is it too early? (Our rooms are on separate floors of the house.)

Not too early... We started Cole at 4 weeks... I was so sad but, he has done well and my sleep is so much better and he too is downstairs and we are upstairs...

My Dr. is the one who suggested trying his room...

As long as mommy is handling it okay, it is never too early to have the little one sleep in the crib. My plan was to use the bassinet at first so Addison would be closer to me and easier to feed..we did it for the first three nights, and it was just okay, alot of awake time...then grandma stayed the weekend and kept the bassinet in the guest room with her...better for me but still not alot of sleep for grandma...when she had to go back to work herslef, we tried the crib. It was WONDERFUL! DD slept so much better and so did we. So she has been in her crib since about week two...She is only 6 1/2 weeks old and the last three nights I have put her down around 9:30 and then woken HER up at 6:00 in the morning! Can you believe that? I feel so lucky but I credit the move to the crib for her increased sleep! Best of luck with the transition, I think it is the best move you could make!

i think it was 5 weeks when we moved him to his room. He sleeps better there than anywhere, so it couldn't have been a day too soon.
