Please tell me your situation.  Why you are doing both.  I am doing both as well and feel slightly guilty about it.  I don't know why, it's stupid that I feel that way.

I guess I started out doing both from the get go because he need formula in the hospital for low blood sugar levels.  Since he had already had formula I went ahead and had them keep him in the nursery during the nights so I could sleep and nursed during the day.  Connor never got nipple confusion which was great.  Once home, I nursed, but then he started pulling off the breast and was constantly hungry after feedings and I was just exhausted emotionally, physically, and mentally.  I really needed a break from nursing him, especially once he started the cluster feeding in the evenings.  It was really hard with another child to always be nursing constantly so I turned to formula.

So I guess I also want to ask how do you balance both BM and Formula?  I usually only give the formula in the evenings because I just can't nurse him every 40-60 minutes.  I will nurse and then an hour later ff and then an hour later nurse.

Thanks for sharing your stories.

Originally I just wanted to BF and all was going well until I got engorged because he wasnt eating enough and wouldnt latch on so I gave him a bottle of formula and he slept for 3 solid hours after that.. I then decided that since he wasn't latching on and staying on very long that I would just pump and feed him that.. Well.. I pump now and I try to just give him that but I don't get enough so he is left with about 2-3 bottles of 2-3oz. of formula.. He seems content and so do I so I am just going to continue this way as long as I can pump a decent amount of milk..

My guy didnt gain back any weight at his 1 week appt. after being born...and so the doctor had me breastfeed for at least 20 minutes and then after that I was supposed to suppliment formula..as much as he liked until he gained back his wieght. I am just not making enough milk, so I am continuing to suppliment. I breastfeed first..as much as he wants as long as he is eating and then offer a few ounces of milk, which now has gone up to offering 4 oz about every 4 hours. He will drink anywhere between 2 and 4 oz. I know my milk supply is just low, but I give him everything I can and nurse around the clock and always first. I dont feel guilty because I know he needed more than I was giving..I did feel like a failure because my supply wasnt what I had with my first daughter and I love to breastfeed. I have not had any "nipple confusion".  He likes both and looks forward to both. I do like that hub can feed him..that is nice. I am glad not to pump. That is nice. I still have a baby attatched me to me around the clock...though. lol.

I had to supplement with formula because of jaundice (which was really upsetting to me because I had made it through 3 days of exclusive bf'ing), and since she just doesnt seem to fill up on me everytime.  I am like you though, I mostly only give her formula in the nighttime feedings.. during the day I try to keep up with her or give her my frozen milk.  The way I look at it is at least she is getting mostly breastmilk and I am doing the best I can!

I planned on exclusively breastfeeding but that didn't work out.  After we left the hospital he wouldn't latch on and I had to pump and supplement with formula.  Eventually he started taking the breast with a nipple shield but we still have issues (falls asleep or pushes away, generally doesn't nurse for long).  At this point I probably breast feed, pump and use formula at about equal amounts daily.  I really want to lessen his formula in take but I can't get my supply any higher, I feel like I've tried everything.  I also really miss having a freezer stash.  I also feel guilty about this whole situation.
