So I was thinking last night about Zeigh's name and how I love it and can see him being  introduced one day, if even at Kindergarten graduation. "Zeigh Carta"..it just sounds like a name of someone who will do great things!

When we tell people his name is 'Z' we get both extremes. They either love it or I get, "oh...that's nice". We even got from a nurse in the hospital..."Are you serious?"  I wanted to punch her teeth in!  <Insert protective mommy>

So, Squishy, do you deal w/ this too??? (Love Seven's name!!)  Or anyone else w/ an unusual name?? I just stay confident and figure one day they will hear how great he is!! :)

It's a BOY! Steven Zeigh Carta born 4-7-08, 6:39 p.m., 7lbs-9oz, 21"

I have Fisher and Otter ;-) People didnt like Fisher, but warmed up to it quick. When people ask us our boys names we tell them, and we get Fisher is a nice name... Silence about Otter lol My dad picked it out.. To be honest I always get bad feedback about it.. I found some guys on myspace named Otter though. They were all successful and loved their name! One guy said something like it made him who he was and how he thought that people with unique names usually ended up being strong people, because of the type of people their parents are etc...

I actually get it a lot....for her middle name. Her full name is Cheyanne Adalida Alexander. The comments I get (seriously) are that im rude and terrible for giving her such a long name, she will resent me for having two George Strait songs as a name, Adalida is too unusual and she will hate it....etc. DF's sister threw the BIGGEST fit when I was in the hospital. She called literally every 5-10 minutes for around an hour trying to convince us to name her something different. And ohhhh nooooo it wasn't something I could choose. It had to be THEIR suggestions. They weren't the ones pregnant. No questions asked, they have no say. She even went as far as to call her mother in Arizona to whine and throw a fit so her mom would call and bully us into picking something different. She called back and told DF "mom said you shouldn't name her that, pick something else" and finally he told her that if she couldn't STFU she needed to not call anymore.

Now most of his family has gotten use to it, and like it. I cringe when someone asks her name though. I always just say Cheyanne and leave it at that, but sometimes they ask the middle name. As soon as I say Adalida they always get a really serious look on their face and say something like "no way. Like the song? Are you serious?"

Yea, I damn sure am.

We get mixed responses with Esther. many people say they have a grandma named Esther! I have one VERY negative response and she was not even trying to hide it. Oh well. My kid!
We have a son, Phineas, and we have had some interesting talks about his name! We named him LONG before Julia Roberts named hers Phineas.

It's funny actually, more people online like the name then people IRL. Which amuses me since you would think that the people that i see in person would just pretend they like it so as not to sound like a bi**h but that is just not the case. There are very few people IRL that actually like the name Seven. Most think it's just weird and chaulk it up to "Alyssa is a weirdo". My bff's fiancee is actually one of the only people who really likes her name. He didnt at first, but when he thought about it he decided he really liked it, and is always telling anyone what a cool name it is. Hubs family calls her Lucky (lucky seven) just to be as$$holes and hubs dad's side calls her Sevan (Sev-on) which is a jew name because they cant handle the name Seven either. I like her odd name and think if she's anything like her mom she will appreciate it when she doesnt have the same name as everyone else.

Peace, love and light,

Alyssa

When most people seem happy with their circumstances, the discontent of a minority can easily be dismissed. The history of the world shows the vast majority, in every generation, passively accept the conditions into which they are born, while those who demand larger liberties are ever a small, ostracized minority, whose claims are ridiculed and ignored. - "Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History"
