Harrison has been a big eater since birth-here is an example of our feeding schedule (this is quite normal for him..)

Wakes up at 5:30, eats and goes back to sleep (empties both breasts)

Wakes up at 8:30, eats and is awake (empties both breasts)

Eats at 10 (4oz formula)-I pump sometime in here

Eats at 11 (2oz formula)-Pump sometime in here

Eats at 12:30 (3oz breastmilk pumped)

Eats at 2 (empties both breasts)

Eats at 3:30 (empties both breasts)

Eats at 5 (empties both breasts)

Eats at 6:30 (usually a 4oz formula or pumped breast milk)

Eats at 8 (4oz pumped breast milk)

Eats at 9:30 (empties both breasts)

Eats a tiny bit around 10:15 (nurses-)

To bed around 10:30 and he has been sleeping until his 5:30am feeding

So-he is eating a TON-He is gaining weight great, obviously and he is getting full feedings everytime-as you can see.  I love that he is healthy and loves to eat, but my GOODNESS, this is ALL we do!  Since BIRTH!!  He is weighing in at almost 13 pounds and is 6 weeks old.

Anyone else have big eaters out there?  Does this sound normal to you?  My LC says that he must be going through a growth spurt...but a growth spurt should just be a few days/a week right?  I try to keep him happy between feedings, but he SCREAMS until he eats!  Just wanted some input...

My baby is a pretty big eater as well.  She was 9.1 lbs at birth and 10.1 at her 3 week checkup.  I mentioned to the ped that she eats a LOT.  Like 4 ounces of formula every 1 1/2 hours.  I also mentioned that it seems that she has acid reflux.  The ped suggested that maybe it's not really that she's hungry but that the milk is just soothing her throat for the time that she's eating.  For the past few days we've been keeping her more upright during and after her feedings and now she's eating about every 3-4 hours.  Maybe your LO has something similar going on?  Or maybe it is just a growth spurt like you said.  I can't wait til LO starts talking so she can just tell me what's wrong :- )

Me too!!! Sometimes I just say, "tell me what's wrong!"  More often than not, it's hunger though...I have DH giving him a 5oz bottle of just-pumped breast milk to see if he will eat that much...maybe he just needs more at each feeding!

Greysen is a huge eater also.  He came home from the hospital at 6lbs 5oz was 7lbs 13 oz at 2 weeks and 11lbs 4oz at 7 weeks.  He was eating 4 ounces of formula(had to stop bf cause he eat so much that my body couldnt keep up) every 2 hours and sometimes an ounce in between.  The doctor put him on ceral at 5 weeks, in his bottle at night.  He is now eating 4 to 6 ounces with ceral every 3 to 4 hours.  I have a feeling his is going to be a very big boy.

We have a daughter who is 4 and I think he is going to pass her.  Grant it she has some medical problems when she was born, but at 1 year old she was 12 lbs and 5 ounces and he was 7lbs 13oz at 7 weeks.

I am thinking if he keeps eat like he does his dad is going to have to get a second job just to by his formula.
