From my BM stand point--I am wondering the same, maybe SM has a family member with that name?? If not that is really strange.

Maybe they just really like the name, or they wanted to give the boys something in common?

My ex and his two brothers all three have the same middle name.

I wouldn't think twice about this. If they had the same first name, then that's awkward. But the same middle name? Who cares?

I understand how annoying this would be.  Trying to understand the rationale behind it is just going to drive you crazy.

My suggestion?  Get a dog and name him John Jacob Larry Jingleheimer Smith!  Ok, I'm totally kidding on that one.  I'm probably the only one who will laugh at this too.

Seriously, though, there's nothing that can be done about it now.  I have a similar situation going on, not with the same name, but with trying to force a name to be removed, and it's no picnic.  You feel like their identity is being stolen.

I have a similar, yet different situation: My son's name begins with the letter Z; the ex and his wife also named their children names that begin with Z, only they're both very uncommon and spelled much more differently than one would normally spell them. I just chalk it up to them being totally unoriginal and slightly competitive and more than a little warped. I feel better knowing that as adults with those names, those children are really going to have a hard time in the business world, if they're so apt to when they grow up.
