Have any of you single BM's experienced this?  Before I continue I'm adding a disclaimer (so nobody gets feathers ruffled): In no way do I believe that this means BD is still interested in me.

Ok, now on to the post: Periodically, BD will call me up under the pretense of idle chit-chat (I can tell when it's forced because I know him well) and then get to the point of what he really wants to know.  In this particular issue, he will ask me if I'm seeing someone.  Usually, I just tell him no.  Mainly, it's usually the truth, and two, if I am casually dating someone it's none of his biz.

Most of the time there's a reason behind the things he does/says/asks.  I know he's not looking for a reunion tour, so what could this be about?  Is he trying to look for a reason to paint me as a hoochie to the courts?  Or is he just being nosy?

Thoughts?

I got nothing.  We don't do idle chit chat.  Short and business-like, for 12 years.  For a 2-3 year period, things chilled enough that we occasionally had some "How's it going" before getting down to business, but we never ring one another unless there is some clear agenda.

Yup - I had this happen once in the early days, but I made it very clear that my personal life was my business. I think they are probably just being a nosy so and so's....

My thoughts are that it's a huge mistake to engage in this sort of communication with the ex.  If the phone call strays off into any conversation NOT about the child, refuse to continue.  Only talk about the child and scheduling matters.  Don't answer personal questions or respond to emails of a personal nature.  Keep it up and he'll eventually get it.
