CS for YDD will end here in 2 months if I don't apply for post minority support.  She lives at home, and goes to college in a nearby town, so no reason for her not to live at home, plus they don't have housing on campus (small community college).  She is on scholarship, but I have paid for her books, gas, etc.  The divorce decree was done in 2001, and it clearly stated that XH is to pay for college to include a vehicle, insurance, gas, tuition, fees, books and any extras if he can afford it.  Well, I have given her my car to use, and I have been using the CS I have been getting to pay for all the other stuff.  I did email him regarding her books, since it is not covered under her scholarship, and his reaction was "that is what the CS is for, you can't get both"...which I can understand.  XH and I do NOT talk at all....only if ABSOLUTELY necessary (both of us have remarried).  I have talked to an attorney to see if he believes I can get Post minority support and he said yes (what else would he have said...lol).  My issue is, do I take him back and go through all of this...or do I ask to see if he is willing to help first???  If he just HELPED with the costs, and not pay for them by himself would be great!

Ideas....suggestions???

ODD is at college now and is on student loans...another story for another day.

Ask him one more time to help and then if he refuses, go to the courts or mediation. It is unreasonable not to ask before filing but it is absolutely your right to file if he refuses. It's hard to tell, but it sounds like there is a disagreement about what your divorce decree means. It's probably worth having a third party make the determination.

I agree with justelsa's suggestions.

I think the "if he can afford it" clause will be what's gonna be hard to determine.  Can she work PT to help with her costs?

I've got two in college now myself and feeling mightily poor...........I understand your frustrations.
