Rolling onto tummy and waking up?

So when Gabe first started rolling onto his tummy at night it would kind of 'wake' him up but not really.  I'd go in, roll him back over, give him his paci and we were all good.  Then he started rolling onto his tummy and sleeping like that, which kind of freaked me out but I let him do because I know it's okay once they can roll freely back and forth.  Well now he's trying to learn to crawl and is almost there, but it's like his instant reaction when he rolls onto his tummy is to push up with his hands - even in his sleep!  Last night we put Gabe down and he usually goes down GREAT.  Well I kept having to go in there because he'd rolled onto his tummy and was pushing up with his hands...but his eyes were still closed.  He was crying in his sleep not quite sure what to do.  He is doing this for all naps in his crib now too (not that he naps good anyway but that's another story...).

He did this over and over again last night until I finally gave up and let him sleep in our bed.  There I can control him better and keep him off his tummy.  I did let him cry for awhile thinking he'd just pass back out and fall alseep on his tummy but he wouldn't.  Not quite sure what to do!  Will he just get over this eventually?

ETA: didn't realize I put this in the wrong section, oops!

Thanks to Angie, Lindy and Tara for the awesome siggies!

The joys of mobility! Yes he will eventually stop practicing in his sleep, or learn to fall back asleep on his own, but it is quite normal for him to resist going to bed and try to get some practice in. Just wait till he can sit up on his own! Clayt would fall asleep sitting up and just conk over, then do it again.

Thanks to Terra for my siggy!

When Eva first learned how to sit up she would actually have to just fall asleep in the sitting position until she learned how to lay back down. I would just let her cry herself to sleep or let her play in her crib until she "passed out". LOL. I would just let him cio, but I'm one of those moms. LOL.
