I am "moving in" from the March board... my EDD was March 16 but my dd arrived on Feb 22nd.  Hello to everyone!

Just wondering if there are any other babies out there who are on apnea monitors. My Juliana is on one and I was looking for some other mommies to talk w/ about this.

We are on an apnea moniter too. It isn't fun either. My daughter was born 02-23 her due date was 2-22, I was induced and had to have a c-section b/c her heart rate slowed with contractions and I failed to dilate. I noticed on thursday there was some blueness around her mouth so we went to her DR and they sent us to the hospital for observation overnight. All went well her o2 stats were over 97% most of the time but they noticed that at times she was taking less than 30 breaths per minute, and the norm is 30-50 breaths per minute. So to be safe DR sent us home with a moniter. I was upset about it initially b/c I took super good care of myself during pregnancy and you just have this 'perfect' picture in your head about raising a baby and now you are strapped down all the time. She doesn't mind it, I know it bothers me more than her! But it just makes taking care of her difficult if you need to leave the room for something and you have to put her down. So if you want to talk more about it let me know. I hope I am not the only one who feels 'let down' about the moniter.

i am however greatful that the DR is taking evey precaution to ensure my daughters safety and I would hook her up to 10 moniters just to keep her safe, no matter how inconvenient they might be.

I too have a little one on a apnea monitor. My DD was born on 1/25/08 and my EDD was 2/25/08. She spent 11 days in the NICU. We have not had to many alarms, but when it does goes off, WOW, is it loud! We also came home on caffenie, but was taken off that last week.

so glad I found you both! I hope we can stay in touch and share what is going on and updates w/ the monitor.

What brand do you guys have? Do you use a "belt" or sticky leads w/ them? We have had a lot of "electrical" false alarms w the belt so switched to the stickies which lessened them a lot.

I can't wait for her to get off of it but hope we can keep it at night for a longer period of time.... I won't be able to get much rest w/ out it, even though it is a pain!

Do you gals feel stranded in the house or one part of the house? I hate lugging it all over and w/ two other small kids it is hard. My hubby goes back to work tomorrow :( and I am dreading dealing w/ it.

Also, they said not to drive w/ it in case the alarm goes off etc but how else can I get my son to pre-school?

I can't wait for spring so we can take walks...even if I have to lug the contraption w/ me!

We are using the belt. Did you make sure with the belt to put the leads on her side. Also that the white lead was on the right side and the black lead was on the left. That helped us to have less false alarms. We are lucky enough where they only want the monitor on during unattended sleep. So basically at night or in the car, also the couple of times I have taken her out in the stroller. The brand we have is HEALTHDYNE Technologies

Is your DD on is for just Apnea of prematurity? That is what we are on for it. How often are they downloading your info for the Dr. They are checking ours every 3-4 weeks and making new orders based on those finds.
