Riley's feedings have started stretching out some, and now I am ending up with over-full breasts between feedings. Last night my left breast was horribly horribly painful, so I pumped it without draining it - it was still painful (though slightly squishier). I later nursed on it anyway, because babies are better than pumps at fixing such problems, but he got very fussy, spit up, was hungry a short while later, etc. (Classic oversupply signs). Just now DH was changing his diaper and found green poop for the first time ever.

Now both breasts are starting to feel overly full. What do I do? Do I pump to drain them and make them squishy? Do I pump just a little to ease the pressure and then let him nurse on a still-lumpy breast? The advice online seems rather inconsistent I'm afraid.

Any advice you have is much appreciated!

I'd use an electric pump and pump until they're empty and not painful.
You can just store the milk you don't use in the freezer.
I wouldn't let the breasts stay full - you don't want to end up with clogged ducts,
or worse, mastitis - JMO

The more you pump and feed, the more you will make. I would just pump to relieve a little pressure and stop. I know it feels better to pump more, but your body needs to regulate to your baby's needs or you will just escalate the problems you are experiencing.

I've had an oversupply with all my babies.  I think pumping will make it worse.  Personally, I'd just grin and bare it for a while and do nothing.  If you feel a sore lump then rub that out by hand expressing it so you don't get mastitis....but if not then i'd just let them stay full.  Eventually they will adjust to his needs.  I always feed on one breast only per feeding - that way she gets the hind milk too and not all foremilk.  But no matter what I do I always have gassy babies with blow out poops that can be green until my supply fixes itself, which it always does eventually!

I wouldnt pump at all.  You will just be telling your body you need more milk.  I have an over supply and a LC told me to only feed from one side per feeding so that baby gets fore milk and hind milk it will also stop the green poop).  This will help even out your supply so that your body will only make what you need.
