February 2008 Expecting Club

We just switched DS over to soy formula on Tuesday.  He has been pregressively having a hard time with bowel movements.  They are now coming out like a little playdoh ball.  He is miserable.  And with him not passing he isn't eating very well.  Anyone have any advice to help him out??  I really hope someone does.

Our now 3-year-old had the same problem with the soy formula, we started it because he was spitting up a ton and I was trying to figure out what I was eating that was affecting him. It turned out to be dairy, so I cut that out and he wasn't spitting up so much. When we switched to formula at 6 months we went with the lactose free and he did great with it, and it didn't constipate him like the soy.

If you need/want to keep giving soy, try adding a little prune juice to the bottle, or give it separately in a dropper, that should help.

We had the same problem. My milk came in late so we had to start with formula 1st. Insted of 1 scoop to 2 oz of water, we used 1/2 a scoop to 2 oz of water everytime we gave him formula. We tried that for about a week and it worked really well. He no longer has a problem "going" now!
