Okay ladies (and gentleman?)~ Let's do it! I'm challenging you to break a habit this month by giving something up. I'll leave it kind of vague since we all seem to have different things we need or want to work on. Here are some ideas for you:

  • Give up bottled water
  • Give up disposable coffee cups by bringing your own
  • Give up ziploc baggies
  • Give up something you use that is single serving / individually packaged (like yogurt, little bags of chips, etc.)
  • Give up paper towels
  • Give up paper napkins
  • Give up dryer sheets

So who is in?

What are you giving up?

How hard or easy do you think it will be?

I'm bummed I'm the first one to respond 'cause I wanted to get ideas from other people! :P

Maybe I'll give up shampoo and body wash and switch to baking soda and ACV. But I hate the smell of ACV. Can I add lemon juice to it or something to cut the smell?

I think it will be pretty easy, but I just have to remember to bring the BS and ACV to the bathroom, lol.

Ewww I know what you mean! I was using the same combo and finally quit. The BS was too hard to get through my thick, curly hair. Then the ACV I could never get out all the way and I'd catch whiffs of vinegar throughout the day when I turned my head. LMBO!

Uh-oh, have to run and get the kids from school. Be back later...

I could say, giving up bottled water but that would be cheating because I have great well water minus all the chemicals so have never used the bottled varieties. Chlorine and specifically fluoride is detrimental to one's health. Fluoride is used in all kinds of insecticides, herbicides and robs one's bones of calcium to neutralize the acid within.

We are finally getting receptacles for plastic recycling which is great because there are so many items that are packaged and bubble wrapped in plastic our land fills are screaming, "overload."

Not a tissue user as I prefer a cloth handkerchief. But paper towels will have to stay as I would be lost in the kitchen without them. To many uses to list. Though I am totally electric in my home the power used likely comes from a coal fired plant so seriously thinking of installing an array of solar panels or a wind generator to at least supplement the electricity used so that will be the biggest contribution to going green to date.

As an aside to Kellie--- Did you ever get your water supply functioning as you hoped to?

Just a question- what is ACV?  Also, I didn't know baking soda could be used like body wash. Do you make a mixture with it or what?  I am always interested in using baking soda for more thing! I get it in bulk at the local grocery store and I LOVE the smell of baking soda. Is that weird? Anyway, I would love to know how to avoid body wash and shampoo!
