I'm trying to think of some more ideas. Here are a few. Add anything you can think of!

  • give up tissues for handkerchiefs
  • give up toilet paper for cloth wipes (no, I'm not quite there yet!)
  • give up soap in a bottle for bar soap
  • give up lotion in a plastic bottle for avocado oil or coconut oil in a glass bottle
  • give up candles for essential oils
  • give up plastic bags for cloth
  • give up disposable feminine products for Instead cups or luna pads
  • give up buying coffee out for making it at home
  • pay bills online instead of by mail
  • give up lunches out and bring your lunch to work instead
  • give up one of your cleaning products for one that is less toxic

I'll try to think of more!

Oooh that's cute! My black Walmart bag folds/rolls up really tiny (plus I have a BIG purse) My problem isn't usually remembering to take them into the store, it's putting them all back in the car. Speaking of which...I need to do that, should do it now while I'm thinking about it.

On the reusable cup thing, I have a reusable cup cozy! You know that cardboard thing that Starbucks puts on their cups? I have a reversible cloth one! My friend made it for me. It's adorable AND Green. ;-) Works on cold and hot drinks and differentiates MY drink from other people's.

Hmm... I think for me it will have to be bottled water since I don't use paper napkins, a box of tissues can last a very long time unless I have a bad cold (which averages one to two times a year), and I don't even have a dryer. Individual serving of food/individually packaged food are also bought on rare occasions. When I go to Starbucks I always demand their mugs, and when I am visiting clients at their offices they always serve coffee in cups.

I do use ziploc bags, but I recycle when I can. Other containers are just not as feasible and flexible, and I really would rather avoid aluminum foil when I can!

Bills are paid at the ATM machine when I also get some cash, and I am trying hard to always have a cloth tote with me at all times. I really should just leave a tote in the car as I sometimes suddenly decide to go to the store.

New reader on this board. I just had to share because my IRL friends would find this too weird. I sewed my own Luna pads and have been using them since having my baby 12 days ago. So much more comfortable than the plasticky stuff you can buy at the store.

I've just discovered sewing in general to be a fantastic money saver. I've been sewing diapers for the baby (but been using cloth for a long time with DS), and I made a whole bunch of baby carriers for a fraction of the cost of buying them.

That is awesome!

There was a program for a while called Goods4Girls where women we sewing cloth pads to donate to girls in South Africa. It was sort of the environmentally friendly response to Tampax or Playtex or whatever company it was that was donating disposable pads.

It was such a neat thing, but the woman running it just didn't have the time to keep it up. :(

Anyway, I think it's great that you're doing those and the cloth diapers!
