November Challenge: Make it from scratch

Your challenge this month is to make it from scratch. The "it" can be whatever you want it to be - and whenever you want to do it. The goal of the challenge is to get you trying new things. That may be making homemade mac & cheese instead of the kind from the box. Or it could be building a closet organizer instead of buying one from Home Depot. Anything you can think of!

Last month I made pumpkin puree for the first time. This month, my goal is to learn how to make pie crust, then make a fully home made pumpkin pie to serve at Thanksgiving. Along the way I'll plan to try some other things that I can incorporate at Thanksgiving like homemade stuffing which I've never done before!

So check in and let me know you're taking part in the challenge. You can let us know what you plan to make from scratch, or just update us whenever you think of, or try, something.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

My project today or tomorrow because I am out will be another batch of oatmeal, raisin, nut cookies. The nuts will be black walnuts as I am a black walnut freak. My favorite by far. In comparison, the English walnut is totally bla'se.

I purchase mine and have for years along with those Midwestern tasty pecans from a supplier in Missouri . One can purchase the nuts and make their own pastries and candies or purchase the finished products. Very reputable company and orders arrive promptly and well packaged.

If at all interested here is the link and I have no stock in the company.

I've been thinking about trying to make my own granola.  I found a recipe online a few weeks ago and I haven't had the motivation to try it yet.  I'll try to make it my goal!

Do it do it do it! (I'm cheering for you!) I made some a few months ago and it was yummy and not hard at all. I need to make some more.

We are trying turkey and cranberry ravioli.  I hope the kids like it!
