I am seriously starting to wonder this.  It seems my LO is never happy when he is awake anymore.  He just cries and needs to be held all the time lately and is drivng me nuts.  He still sleeps great at night only waking once to eat but now during the day after I feed him, he will be content for about, ummm maybe 5 minutes, MAYBE and then he starts crying.  he is not pulling his legs up or arching his back or anything. I do think he has a tiny degree of AR because I can hear some stuff trying to come back up and he has been more phlegmmy (is that a word) after he eats lately which I read is normal for the most part.  I am just curious now, at 5 weeks, how much awake happy time do you get??  the ONLY thing he likes other than being held is the swing. Thats it.  UGH

I have no advise for you only wanted to tell you that I'm right there with you, my LO sits /sleeps in his sing all morning until about 12pm, no use in getting him out if he isn't crying, because he wil lonly start crying if I do get him out! Today I had one of the best days yet, mostly kind of happy....even got one smile! I did start him on gripe water.....any connection.....who knows! I'll have to keep using it to see.

Kaden's pretty ok in his bouncy...or being held...and he will actually sit with my DH more than me for longer periods of time awake and happy.  Seems like all he wants to do when I hold him is eat.  I do think the whole rooting around is cute, but it does get tiring.  I want to be able to hold him and him not associate me with food, you know?

But yes...he is very happy awake sitting with my DH...

Makes you feel like a horrible mom that your baby hates when they would rather be in the swing than be rocked to sleep... at least that's how I feel.  My daughter fights sleep so bad when I'm holding her but once she goes into that swing she is out like a light.

I also understand wanting to hold your child without having your boob hanging out!!!!  I ALWAYS have to feed Makenna first before I can play with her in my arms or she will scream at me.  Even if it's only to snack for a few minutes.

Someone should have told us that babies aren't always easy!!!  My first was an angel, this one is a total shock!!!!!!!

Hey Deana!

I was just about to post about this same thing. I'm relieved I'm not the only one. DS is one fussy boy. Last night he had a 1 hour quiet awake time & I almost fell over, LOL. I wonder how long it is before they outgrow this stage....hopefully soon. It's hard to go anywhere or get anything done when he is so fussy.

Question for you - does your LO calm down when you pick him up? Because when Mr. Collyn gets fussy nothing works for long at calming him - not even picking him up. I've been calling him Grumpy.

Just thought I'd let you know you are not alone!

Jackie
