What do you think?  Are the elections a wake up call?  Is it a message to Obama?  Or not?

I was talking about this with my DH this morning as we listened to the news.  Personally, I don't know that I will vote for our Democratic governor next fall (I'm in Ohio and VERY disappointed with Strickland.  Esp. after he tried to shut down my employer - a charter school!  I don't know that I can vote for him now).  But if I didn't vote for Strickland it would not be an indictment of Obama at all - I'm still perfectly content with him.

Thoughts?

If Governor Patterson of NY runs for re-election (dems are REALLY pressuring him not to since his WILDLY unpopular) I won't vote for him. I just can't after he has bungled majorly important issues and his appointment of the Kristen Gillibrand (a blue dog) to a solidly blue seat (Hilary Clinton's former seat) I can not forgive him!!!!

BUT I will NOT be voting for a Republican governor - no way - I will vote for a Green Party or Socialist Party candidate that runs. Even though they will have no chance of winning it will give me a chance to show my support for a true multiparty system (not this two party control we live under now) and I can still vote.

AND like you this in no way is a reflection on my feelings about Obama - I would vote him into a second term in office in a second.

I wasn't that concerned about the governor's races, I had read that the VA race was pretty much a given for the Republican? My dh says governorships are BIG, but I just don't give them as much credence---CA is a blue state and we have a Rep governor... I'm choosing to look at it this way: there were only 2 Congressional seats at stake, and Dems won both of them.

The main thing I was watching was the Maine vote and I am very sad about that. I'm always surprised at the way people are so eager to strip rights away from their fellow citizens...

Yeah, I agree - I might vote 3rd party next year for governor if it's an option or abstain (unless Strickland really does something to change my mind) but I can't see me voting Republican!
