I don't know how old your baby is but it's usually pretty normal.  Especially with babies who are fed breast milk.

My little one went poop once a day for about the first 3 days... then didn't go for almost a week!  I freaked out, only because she was so young, but her Dr was okay with it as long as she didn't go OVER a week which she didn't.  She's now 6 weeks and she goes about every 2 days or so and is breastfed.

Hi again Kelly!

I read that in some babies' cases, going poop once every couple days is totally normal -- it depends on what the poop looks like when they finally do poop!  If it is the typical breast-fed runny, seedy, yellow to yellow-green, then that may just be his pattern.  I feel like I am becoming a poop expert (LOL) because my DD is going through poop "issues," too.  She has been having extra runny, extra GREEN poops (talk about shocking!)  If your little guy's poop seems dry or extra pasty when he finally goes, maybe call the doc.  Breastfed babies are rarely constipated, but he may be reacting to something you have eaten.  I wouldn't worry too much at this point, though.

How is everything going w/the VUR?  Be sure to post when you know more or as tests, etc., come back, OK?  You are in my thoughts.

Kristina

My baby is exclusively breast milk fed, and he has gone 2 days without pooping. I could tell that he was getting uncomfortable and then on the morning of the 3rd day it was a gusher! Some babies poop after each feeding others can go longer. As long as your baby isn't in any pain, you should be okay. This is my second baby and I still worry about poopless diapers. That feeling of worry wart won't ever go away.

Oh I feel better now too. My daughter hasn't pooped in 36 hours.  She is breastfed for about 1/2 hr and then bottle fed 2 ozs soy formula.  I spoke to a nurse today who told me to try diluting the soy formula.  I asked her about changing the formula and she told me not to.

I also read somewhere that it's very common for babies to  be constipated but I still worry!
