It's been VERY hot here the past couple of days. I've kept the baby in the a/c as much as possible. But today (and yesterday too somewhat) she hasn't nursed quite as much as usual. I had to pump today (I have a class this weekend) and wouldn't you know it, she wanted to nurse right after I pumped. I nursed her for 10-15 min on ea. side, and she nursed me dry... I think I ran out of milk & now she's hungry again... I think she's getting a little dehydrated. I probably am too. What should I do? Can I give her water from a bottle? I am trying to 'reload' by drinking some more water...
Please help!

You definitely keep yourself hydrated and watch to make sure that your daughter has lots of pee diapers, I think she should be ok just feed her whenever she is hungry. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Your breastmilk should adjust to the weather and the baby's needs. Just make sure that you're staying hydrated so that baby can get what she needs.

Fortunately, she just nursed on both sides. She's fine now. I have been drinking more tonight. It was REALLY hot here the last couple of days - and I had to do some work on my computer, which is in the part of the house without the a/c. I think I got a little dehydrated. Better now...

may i ask what happened to your Kate? We named our daughter Meredith Kate. I really like the 'Kate' part. I almost gave her a differnt middle name. So glad I didn't.

Your breasts are never truly empty. They make milk on demand. So even if you just pump, baby can still get milk.

If baby is getting dehydrated, the best thing you can do is just to nurse her more frequently.

Giving a breastfed baby water in a bottle is really not recommended.
