My baby sleeps seven hours straight, but he goes to bed at 8:00pm, so he is still up at 3:00am. He has his last feeding about 7:30pm which consists of a little breast milk and up to 4 oz of formula. He wakes up about 3am and nurses for about 20 min total. He then sleeps until about 5am, then I give him a 4 oz bottle of formula. Then he pretty much wakes up every hour for as long as we stay in bed and just nurses off and on. He has another 4 oz bottle about 10am. Then for the rest of the day he nurses for about 20 min at each feeding along with usually 2oz of formula. So in a nutshell, he has one meal of just breast milk, 1-2 meals of 4 oz of formula, and about 4 or so nursing/bottle feedings.
Our pediatrician made us supplement with formula starting at two weeks...my supply didn't keep up, but I am working on building it back up so I can eliminate some of the formula.
I give him the 4 oz of formula just before bed because it holds him over longer then the breast milk.
