My LO will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. She passed her hearing test in the hospital, but I'm worried because she does not turn her head in the direction of a sound. If there is a really loud noise, she'll jump, but she doesn't look to see what made the sound or what direction it came from. If I shake a rattle beside her head or call her name (in the opposite direction from where she's looking), it seems like she doesn't even hear it or has no curiosity about it. Is this normal? Is this something that she'll develop later?

TIA for any insights on this.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that's a 2 month milestone, so your little one would still be in the realm of normal for not doing this yet. If you're concerned though, check w/ your local health department. They have great screening and early intervention programs.

Personally, I'd give it a little more time before becoming too concerned. Certainly if she's not doing this w/in a few weeks, I'd probably check with doc. But keep in mind there's a huge range of acceptable when it comes to meeting milestones.

GL!

Kaden is 7 weeks old and acts EXACTLY as you described. I was wondering too if that was normal, he passedh is hearing test just fine also. Well, I have to admit I feel a little better that other babies are acting similarily!!
