Hi, can anyone recommend a bottle or brand of nipple that slows down the taking down during feeding?  I'm using playtex dropins and playtex nipples but my lo is taking it down too quick and I'm using the slow nipple...

any suggestions?  I'm on my 4th formula and also taking something for reflux but I'm starting to think maybe he's just taking in too much air when drinking..  my lo is 4 weeks old

Right now I am liking the MAM bottles...they seem to be a lot like the playtex ventaire bottles (they have a soft one-way valve part at the bottom of the bottle) but the are BPA-free. A lot of people swear by the Dr. Brown's bottles...I tried those with my first DS but they didn't make a huge difference for him (he was mostly breastfeeding) and i felt like they had a lot of parts that were hard to clean.

When I was at the dr yesterday I was mentioning my LO had a lot of gas and asked the doc for suggestions...he said that it was different for each baby so i might need to try a few until I found one that agreed with LO. BUT, he said that most babies will have some degree of gassiness no matter what formula they are on. He also said that whatever I try I should keep him on it for 3 weeks before I decide its not working.

You may be doing this already, but instead of switching bottles you can also make sure to have baby in a more upright position when you are feeding them and only tilt the bottle just enough to keep milk in the tip of the nipple so it doesn't pour out into LO's mouth.

Good luck!

I love the Dr. Brown's and they make the bpa free ones now.
