I am looking for a little sympathy and to know if anyone else has ever heard of, or experienced,.... postpartum stretch marks.

I was so happy to get through this pregnancy with no stretch marks... then about a week after giving birth all of a sudden I noticed stretch marks (big, red, impossible to miss) just below and around my belly button.  I finally decided they must have been on the underside of my belly while I was carrying the baby and that is why I didn't see them.  But yesterday I saw the belly photos we had taken four days before I went into labor and the stretch marks are NOT THERE!  They definitely showed up after I gave birth... wth????

Has anyone every heard of this??

Are there any products that actually fade them?

Kerry

I had three distinct stretch marks before I delivered. Once I got home, my lower belly was just covered in them, plus I had a few tiny ones around my belly button. I SWEAR I got the ones on my lower belly during my c-section from the doctor stretching to pull a ten pound baby through a six inch incision. But everybody else is telling me that I must have had them before but couldn't see them because the skin was pulled so tightly that they didn't show up red until after my skin had a chance to relax a little. I'm not sure if that is true or not. But just wanted to let you know that I'm right there with you! My doc said to use cocoa butter. I've thought about trying some of the scar fading products, but honestly I just don't care that much. I've also heard of some women being prescribed a retin-a product to help with the scarring, but it can't be used if you are breastfeeding.
