Momtourage

Hi everyone,

New to ivillage. I'm not sure which message board I should be at.

Please help. I have 3 children, 2 daughters, 12 and 6, and a son age 10.

My daughters, whom I love so much, I driving me crazy. I need advice and now. My twelve year's issues are failing school, difficulty in disciplining her, and just about every school morning, trying to get her moving.

My six year old - talking back, major attitude, and just seems cranky most of the time.

They have so many good qualities also. Why can't I bring those qualities out more?

In the meantime, I hope some members will pop in here and offer their words of wisdom to you. I know my almost 10yo boy can drive me a little crazy too.

Do you praise your girls when they're behaving the way you prefer? Sometimes a simple, 'I like when you do "XYZ," you do it very well.' can lead to more times of doing that. Sometimes they're just looking for a reaction from you - whether it's good or bad so I try to react when they're being good. Other than that, my only advice might be to keep things consistant. When discipling your kids keep the rules consistant. Maybe come up with a list of behaviors that will not be tolerated and stick to that list.
