Jea has now gone 10 nights of going to bed and fallling asleep without the
pacifier. We had at her 1 year birthday taken away having the paci outside of
the crib/bed. Preschool last spring stopped giving her the paci (because she
didn't ask for they said) for naps. She still asked for it at home !

Last week when DH and Jea went to OKC on Wed, he got there only to realize
that he only thought he had brought the paci. Well we decided that it was a
good a time as any to get rid of it for good. She still asked for it until
Tuesday night but according to DH that was the last time.

I can't believe how grown up she is getting to be! This is just one more piece
of evidence that my baby is no longer a baby, big sigh!

GOOD JOB JEA!!!!!!!!!!

Michael never liked the paci(or binky we called it) But  we are going through bottle withdrawals here. The ped said it is time to take it away.He only has it at night when I rock him asleep.I hope in a few weeks he will like the sipy better. I know how you feel about your baby growing up. I am a little sad but I know fun things are ahead.

WTG Jea!  Sam was only allowed the pacifier in bed as well.  At two she fell and hurt her lip and would not take the pacifier, so it was wisked away.  She was down to only one she would use anyway.  It was pink and blue.

Sam transitioned from bottle to sippy cup at one, very easily.  Then, as w/ the pacifier, she would only use one.  She would actually bite through the top.  Then we had to run to the store to get the same one (exactly).  It was a blue Nuby.  I tried bribing her w/ all kinds of other cups and prizes, but that kid would totally stop drinking w/o it.  I never had the heart to go over 24 hours of no pee in her diapers.  She was 3 when she finally gave it up.  Just decided to one day.

That's great and it sounds like it was relatively painless.

My older 2 were not pacifier users, but they each sucked a different set of 2 fingers.  By about 3 they only sucked them at bedtime, but I finally had to bribe them out of it around 5 or 6 to get them to stop completely.  That's the trouble with thumb or finger sucking - you can't leave them behind!

Elena didn't use a paci or her thumb or fingers. Lucked out with her.
