I am having huge issues here.  Not new news, eh?

I have no idea whatsoever how to even start PT'ing Ty.  I work full-time outside of the house (but even if I was a SAHM, I wouldn't have a clue on how to do it, LOL!!).  Ty goes to the sitter's at 8am, and I pick him up at 5:30pm.  Then it is home, cook supper, eat supper, little play time (very little), jammies, sippy cup/lay on daddy for a bit, and then to bed (in bed at 8:30).

How do I fit PT'ing in there?  Can anyone give me any advice?  His babysitter is very much on board with us in the wanting him to be PT'd.

TIA for any suggestions/comments/whatever.

Oh, P.S., I have heard about "potty training in a day or three days, guaranteed."  Does this actually work...can it really be done in a day or two?

Kelly ~ My 1st one did it when he was ready not when I was ready.  Brendan was 3 years 1 month and he just said I have to go pee.  (we were 30 min from home in the car) I said well go we will be home soon.  When I was pulling in the drive way he said hurry I have to go bad.  So we raced in and didnt look back.  It was like a little light went off in his head.  Ive tryed to start with Brady and he goes sometime.  Yes I work full time.  My childcare helps with this but we are at a center and it is part of what I pay them to do.  They ask him a few times a day during diaper changes if he has to go.  They remind him and reward him.

Im not getting worked up as Im like you how do I do this.  I just ask about every 30-60 min when we are home and put him on.  I know the light will go off for Brady at some point.

Good luck and dont worry to muich just start asking and pop him on when you are home.  Can you ask your dc to start working with him?

Thanks Julie!

Yah, she will definitely start working with him when we say "go."  He does go on the potty sometimes at our prompting, but here is the bad part.  Once he is on the potty chair, it is m.u.r.d.e.r. getting him off it.  He loves to sit on it and has sat there for as long as 20 minutes before.  I try to coax him off when all he is doing is sitting there playing, and he just says, "I potty!!!" and beats on his little chest.  It is really kind funny.  But, I don't know how to get him off of it.  It creates issues in the morning when I am trying to get the boys together and out the door to the sitters.  He throws the most God awful tantrums when I finally make him get off.  It is so not worth going through.  Even the promise of a piece of candy (M&M), won't lure him off most times.  What do I do?

We started with Ky first (even with me being a SAHM) and we didn't use a particular method. To this day (over a year later) she'll still have an accident every other week or so.

With Kd we did the "Toilet learning in less than a day" Actually, DH  worked with him. It was too much of a power struggle between Kd and I. So Sat. morning Ky and I took off for the the day. DH did what the book called for (some improvising was needed). By the time I got home at 5 pm Kd was peeing and pooping in the potty. Then Sun. he continued to fine tune the process. After that he had maybe 2 accidents that week.  This was done in May of this year. I can count on one hand the amount of accidents he has had since that first week. He did have a testing period to see if we were really done with diapers, but we just stuck to it, and things have been working since.

My friend that let me borrow the book, all 4 of her kids were done on that method (the book is like 40 years old) and all of them were completely done by the end of the 1st week. The wording is definitely like you would have read in the late 60s early 70s. Lots of politically incorrect lingo too :P But if you can get past all that, the book works great. If you have any questions, you know where to find me :P

Pick a weekend... Can you take off work on a Friday or Monday? And have DH take off on the opposite day? That way one of you is home with him for 4 days straight?

We picked a weekend when DH was off on Friday, so we had 3 days in a row. We did the cold turkey, no diaper method. She peed on herself a time or two, then started using the potty. We're still not fully trained though. If she's wearing a pull-up, she goes in it, and won't just use a potty in public. If we're home, and she's only wearing panties, she uses the potty every time. It's taken a little while for her to get the feeling that she needs to go, before she really needs to go. At first it was a big emergency...and she had to go right then. But now that she's figured it out a little, it will help being in public since we'll have to find a bathroom. So what I'm saying is that, I think it's a combination of us training them, as well as them becoming more aware of and having control over their own bodies.
Good luck!
