Brayden is potty trained and uses it for both pee and poop. he let us know and never has a problem going poop in the potty, in fact, he gets a piece of candy when he poops in it so he is encouraged to poop in the potty. Anyway, recently I have noticed blood on his poop (a couple times), and when i wipe him (like twice) its on the wipe.

He is potty trained, i dont know if that has anything to do with it. i do notice he will tell me he has to go, then run back and sit on the potty and come back out. Then a couple minutes later he does it again until finally he does end up going. he puts his hands back there if he has on tighter pants, and says its itchy. It sounds like internal hemorrhoids to me. what do you think??

Of course i would normally run him to the dr, but without insurance i cant afford to pay a couple hundred for them to tell me "looks like a crayon to me" and find out im worring over nothing. it will probably be 3 more months until he is covered. What should i do?

It's hard to say

Yuri is often constipated and sometimes there is a little blood when she goes poo-poo.

I say go with your gut.....I know you said your finaces were tight but if you feel that he needs to go, then take him.....You can also call the advice nurse and see what they recommend.

I hope this helps Chelsea

yes, that is hard.

if it were me, i would try to convince myself it was nothing and that it would correct itself over time. but i'd worry and want to take my sm in to get checked out. so i would call my pedi and explain the insurance and financial situation and see if they could do an office visit for a reduced fee that i would pay cash for. if its nothing, great. if it needs further treatment and can wait 3 months, great. if it needs treatment now, then at least i know and will deal with finding a way to pay for it.

but admittedly i am a worrier.

also, i dont know how good those minute clinic's are at cvs and walgreens (or whatever pharmacy), but maybe they have a reduced office visit rate?? i've never used those, so i dont know.

good luck and let us know how he's doing.

It sounds like it's most likely hemorroids to me.  What does his poop look like?  Is it hard, formed turds?  Maybe you could try a stool softener, an extra cup of grape juice or something for a few days, and see if it softens it up and makes it easier for him to go.  It sounds like maybe he has a little trouble if he's running back and forth like that.

If that doesn't work, the PP had some good advice about just calling and seeing what the nurse says and if they can work with you.  I bet they'll just have you treat him at home first, maybe with a small dose of Miralax even, and see if it helps before wanting to see him anyway.

Hope you figure it out!
