So Ladies,

Overall Paige is really a good girl but bedtime is always my nightmare with her.

Well last night I almost cried because I couldn't believe how bad she was and for NO reason.  I really felt like what would SuperNanny do. lol I can laugh now.

We started out singing and reading her bedtime story book, all was going well, than liglhts out and she started jumping up and down getting out of bed, fully just not ready for bed.  It is 8:30 now (9:30 before time change).  It usually takes 30 mins for her to settle and go sleep anyways, but she only had a 20 min nap, she looked tired.  So this was the order of events.

  1. Paige please be a good girl, your not listening.  (Just ignored me)  Paige your getting to get time out.  Paige your going to get licks.  (Con't to ignore.  So she got a small smack, she looked at me like are you serious.
  2. Then I said I will take Tinkerbell sticker off if you con't being naughty.  We ended up going head to head with me wiping Tinker off
  3. Time out (she didn't stay in spot, she chose spot for time out, I put her back in time out area, she kept moving)
  4. She got hard licks now, she cries for a few seconds then gives me the wicked eye look :-0  and jumps back in bed
  5. I say go to sleep Paige, turn off lights and lay next to her, it all starts again
  6. I take more of the Tinker tattoo off, this really upsets her I think finally she will calm down BUT NO
  7. I put her back in time out but facing the wall, this upset her but then she ran away thinking I will chase her and starts laughing (She is LAUGHING AT ME NOW)  I am thinking what the hell have I done wrong to get here.
  8. I call Mark, he had just left to watch Baseball Series, he tries talking to Paige she tells him NO.  I call my mom, Paige then picks up a magazine and starts hitting me :-0  what the hell.  This would never be heard of when I was growing up.
  9. I was so upset I said if you won't listen and want to be naughty I will leave the room.  I closed the door and left.  Paige went crazy in the room trying to open door (the only door she hasn't successfully got open yet)  was banging and crying to get out.  I am thinking why does she care I left he lights on, sigh.  She gets out and is upset thinking I left her.
  10. I go back in talk to her nicely, say I'm  not happy with her, give her hugs, lets go sleep.
  11. Daddy came back home because I texted to say she hit me and I am losing a battle that I don't understand.  He comes in the room and says Paige come with me.  She got up looked at me, smiled and ran out thinking she won.
  12. I heard daddy talking to her calmly then - 2 hard smacks.  She ran inside on the bed crying, told me sorry than layed down.

By now ladies it is 11pm

WTF - I still do not know what the heck the problem was.

A friends said to me this morning her only crazy moments with her daughter was bedtime and this is the beginning for me :-0  I cannot handle another night like that.

I was very pleased that Mark came back home to help me, he wasn't even gone an hour poor site.

So that is the story of my betime terror.  It has always been bad but not this bad OMG.

Any opinions or suggestions?

I didn't think this will be that long, sorry, hope you got through it.

Marce ~ I dont have much advice.  Im starting to have bedtime issues with Brady.  More of him screaming and crying to stay up for a bit more.  We have always had a shut door when he goes to bed and he has a child lock on it so he can not get out.  He has been asking to have door open and I have let him but if he starts coming out the door gets closed.  He is now waking up and turning the overhead light on.  UGH this is most likley because Brendans room looks like a plane could land he has 3 night lights Brady didnt have any till a few weeks ago.

Stick to your guns walk away, ignore until she will listen.

Hugs

julie

I have no suggestions for you at all, but I wanted to stop in and LAUGH at you just like Paige did! :D I thought it was funny! I HATE it when I say something over and over again to Morgan and all her daddy has to do is look at her to get her to listen to me! UGH, sometimes I wanna be the dad!

Props to Marc!! I can not believe he went back home to help you, awww! I know you rewarded him later ;-)

I hope you dont have many more nights like this! Just stay on top of it and Im sure she will see sooner or later that bed time rules are RULES!

Marce..know that you are NOT alone.  Logan gives us a run for our money some nights too...

It usually goes something like this...we've read stories...I"m putting Max down and DH is trying to get Logan down.  We've started giving him a back rub or foot rub at bedtime and a VERY short one at naptime to get him in the zone.  I started that a few weeks back when I was getting the same battle at naptime too and with two to get down by myself, I have to have order!!!  :)

So if he starts running around after that, we turn off the light and tell him that he has to stay in bed if he wants backrub etc...and sometimes we've even had to take his beloved 'mimi' away until he stays in bed

It's a phase...this too will pass.  good luck .  Try to come up with a game plan and stick to it.  If she goes beserk when you close the door, then use that to your advantage...tell her straight up when you're ready to leave or when she needs to stay in bed that if she doesn't, you will turn off the light, close the door and leave.  AND DO IT!!  Let her have a fit for a few mins...she WILL remember that.  After the time you've decided on...go back in...tell her you can't talk to her when she's screaming adn tell her if she want you to stay in her room with her, then she HAS to stay in bed.  Repeat as necessary.  Sometimes a swat on the bottom works too.

Hope this helps.  If you stick with it, she will realize that you are serious and it doesn't matter how much she screams, kicks, etc she is not coming back out and you are not going in until she's settled (or whatever you've agreed up)

HTH

hugs

nancy
