Being a FTM, I am totally clueless and feeling so helpless looking at my HB suffer so much. He's got a terrible cold, a low grade fever, runny blocked nose, and is refusing to feed [coz he can't breathe if he takes the bottle]. He's also going through some major teething. So, a lot of stuff at the same time. I really need some tips from you BTDT moms.

I am suctioning his nose whenever he sounds congested or I see his nose dripping [he absolutely hates it]. I'm also turning on the shower to mist up the bathroom and bedroom so he can breathe easy. I am letting him sleep on his bouncer [while praying he will not try to sit up and jump/roll off of it!]. In total desperation, I even tried the 'Vicks on the feet with socks on' thing, but it did nothing. I even gave him Tylenol for his fever coz he would not sleep at all at night He woke every few minutes last night!

Now, even the Hyland's is not helping his teething! Which means, two problems which are at their peak!

Help! Any advice is appreciated!

Awe!! sorry he's not feeling well! I always use saline drops for the nose, the mist in bathroom is a great idea....do you have a humidifier? they also sell baby Vicks you could put on his chest/back...I think you also might be able to get these Vick's plug in things?? maybe the girls know more, I've never used it. For the fever...personally I always use Motrin first...with my kids I find it just works quicker/better.
But it sounds like your doing a great job mom!!

I agree with Kensie, it sounds like you're doing everything right. I would def keep up with the tylenol, especially while he has a fever. I also keep a cool mist humidifier in Tristan's room and turn it on anytime he's not feeling good. I think that the noise helps him sleep too.

I hope he's feeling better soon!

I agree with the PP...saline nose drops are GREAT. He'll hate you while you put them in, but trust me, its worth it! He'll feel so much better when you can suction all that stuff out.  Dont be afraid to get up in there...remember how they suction them when they're born?  Try to suction him right before he eats so he's got a better shot at getting something down.  If you're nervous about the bouncy seat, you can always have him sleep in his car seat.  Sounds like you're doing everything right though! We also use the Vicks plug-in and Motrin.  I find that Tylenol doesnt really work with my kids, but once they hit six months, you can use the infant Motrin.  Good luck, hope he feels better soon!

I know what you are going through!  We had this same issue last Thurs/Friday.  Thurs day, fever of 101.2 with sniffles & boogers.  Thurs night he would only sleep in my arms because he would wake & fuss every 20 min.  I lay in bed with him in the crook of my arm - I didn't sleep at all!  The tylenol did help - after that he slept a few hours.  Hylands did nothing for us.  Friday wasn't great with bad naps, but by Friday evening he was back to sleeping though the night & Saturday was fine.

Hope it gets better soon!
