I hate leaves. Well, dead leaves that need raking. We moved from the city where there were hardly any trees to the country where we have a million of'em. The first year we lived here, we went on vacation at the end of November, intending to finish raking when we got back. It started snowing while we were away and never let up and our outside stairs were extremely slippery due to the buildup of wet decaying leaves.

So now it's early November, I learned my lesson and need to rake soon before the snow starts. I just hate it! I got the kids rakes but really, they're not very helpful and would much prefer to jump in the piles of leaves rather than rake them. You might say they're doing negative work.

We did have a gorgeous fall but I wish we could rake first and enjoy later. I like to get my work over with before I relax.

Have you thought about just running them over with the mower and using the leaves as mulch?  No raking involved and it helps fertilize the soil.

Stupid leaves....I say stupid acorns! We just moved out of the city too! We now live in a neighborhood that has oak trees that are hundreds of years old, therefore, they drop hundreds of acorns daily. My car now has damage that is comparable to hail damage! Its ridiculous! They are beautiful, but man for the past few weeks, the acrons have been a huge hazard for everything! Good luck with your leaves! But like the PP said, mulch them up with the lawn mower or use a blower. It saves lots of time and back ache!

I haven't mowed a lawn in probably 20 years. DH has been in charge of it exclusively since we moved here. I should probably start helping out, especially since he does it once in a blue moon.
