Argh. AD is coughing nights and mostly fine but a tad warm and cranky with runny nose, days. He's sick, so I am keeping us indoors with heat cranked, humidifier at night, etc.
Dishwasher is still broken, and who knows what to do about that. The man came twice, the first time put the pump back in so it leaked, so had to come back to fix that. He just told me the company won't pay for his visit because it's not a manufacturing defect, but a popcorn kernel that got in there or something. But it's still not working, and I am not sure I want him to "try" a third time.
Not that I was taking a slightly ill AD out trick or treating in Maine anyway, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow evening, so our older child won't be able to go either. Which means... the indoor gymnasium "party" done by the city? Maybe DH can still take her trick or treating (we have a GREAT block in our town where the homeowners go all out and police block off the street).
Oh, and while I am whining, winter is coming, and just in time for that, all the indoor play places here are closing for one reason or another. The library is doing renovations on the children's room, so for the winter, the new room is a tiny space upstairs where the door doesn't close so AD runs all over the library when we go. Not going again.
The nonprofit indoor playspace that is an "indoor playground" that has been a local landmark for 15 years, is going under, being evicted, and will close forever at the end of the month.
The for-profit indoor inflatable playscape, the Bounce Zone, is closed until further notice for renovations.
So that leaves, for my very physically active AD, McDonald's.
*sigh*
And our house has no open space for play or running, except the upstairs "middle bedroom" which is more of a passage between the two "real" bedrooms, and it has stairs taking up the middle of the floor anyway, and slanted ceiling (upstairs is actually the attic) taking up more of what would otherwise be useful floorspace. It's an antique cape and I think the original inhabitants were 4 feet tall.
Guess we better learn some winter sports, not that AD is old enough anyway.
