Harrison has what I think is a diaper rash but there's no actual "rash" it's super red, almost like a sunburn and very warm to the touch. It's on his bottom and his lower testicles.  He's also had about 5 very watery bowel movements today.  He's crying during his diaper changes and pushes our hands away when we try to put anything on it. Other than that he's acting normally. Anyone have any suggestions?

That's exactly what Wyatt's diaper rash looked like when he was little.

If Harrison still has diarrhea I recommend keeping a barrier over the rash to keep it from getting worse. Since diaper rash cream can be hard to wipe of with a gentle tough, I use(d) Vaseline when the kids have diarrhea. It keeps the feces and urine off the rash and easily comes off. That in combination with changing every 1-2 hours and 45 minutes after a meal/snack should keep urine and feces off the skin so it can heal. I would also stop giving Harrison any acidic foods/beverages e.g. juice and tomatoes until this heals since it tends to be hard on skin in the diaper area. If the skin breaks Harrison will run the risk of developing yeast, especially if he still has diarrhea. If it looks like he's really uncomfortable/hurting Motrin or Tylenol should provide some relief.

I hope the rash settles down soon.

Thanks Jen! It is much better today. Still red, but he's more comfortable.

This happened to Kenny a few months ago, and he screamed when I tried to put anything on it.  I ended up letting him run around naked for awhile and after a few times of that it cleared up without me having to put anything on it.  I felt SOOO bad for him...it looked painful :-(   His was also after some runny poops.

Ditto suggestions about frequent changes & ointment. Is he teething? We have the same thing going on here and I think AD is getting his two year molars.
