So this week I've been completely MIA-because we've had a hot water leak in the cement slab under our house, causing major problems-no hot water since Halloween, to start. Let me keep this very brief, but do yourself a huge favor. Check your homeowner's policy about what they will and won't cover and your deductible. We're havinng to do a reroute vs jackhammering through the cement in two rooms, and the best (enter HUGE SARCASM HERE), since our company got a quote of $1300 to just fix the leak (not the reroute, which costs $3200), and our deductible is $1000- the insurance is only paying for $300 of the repair (and the other damages resulting from the water leakage, wet carpet, linoleum, extra food we have to buy out of pocket, Its been a colossel problem,

all the damage, time, money to eat out/not have access to hot water, and the money to come up for the rest of the reroute is a lot. so on that note. check your policies. you don't want the headache that we've had.

OMGosh, that's awful! Must have been quite frazzling with 3 small ones.

We had friends go through something sort of similar a few years ago. They had a pipe burst in their bathroom over the weekend while they were out of town and had a horrible time with minimizing the damage, eating out all the time, and keeping the mold to a minimum all while dealing with the chemicals used to fix everything. Anyhow, we designed out insurance policy around their very experience.

I'm appalled how little insurance reps are willing to tell you if you don't have the knowledge or forethought to ask!

Sorry to hear you had to deal with this ...
