First thing I do is select the eyes with one of the lasso tools - select one and then hold down the shift key to select the other one as well.Now go to the filter menu and do sharpen. There's not much difference in this photo but sometimes it can be quite noticeable.
Now, with the eyes still selected, bring up the hue/saturation menu - ctrl-U. Click on colourise. That will make the eyes go brown but if you move the sliders the colour will change. For example, this is the hue at 220, the saturation at 32 and the lightness at -11.
This is with hue at 358, sat at 27 and lightness at -22.
And, finally, this is hue at 71, sat at 34 and lightness at -37.
If you want red or purple or lime green and so on, just play with the sliders until you end up with you're after.
