Ok first of all...where has the magnetic Lasso been all my life!!! I have never done a cut out so quickly! I didn't save it but I'm amazed at how easy that was. I've never been able to do a bent photo in Gimp, I've tried the tut but could never get it to work right. Here's my first bent photo:

It looks wonderful, Jenn. :o)

The magnetic lasso can take a bit of getting used to but, yes, it's a very quick way of selecting for cut-outs etc. :o)

Thanks Anne! The lasso sure beats the way I've been doing it in Gimp with quick mask, and needing to erase every little bit and edge by hand.
