Hey Sheri!  It's me...remember...your stalker!  Lol!  Told I'd leave you alone for a while!  :O)  So I've joined the PS team!  I'm using my free trial of CS3 and all I can say is OMG I LOVE IT!  :O)  I'm going to buy it when my trial is up.  It's truly an amazing program.  And once you know where things are and what they do, it's actually much easier than PSP...but you already know that!  :O)  I'm doing this tut right now but I have a *quick* photo editing quesion for you.  To cutout the eyes on the 1st hue/sat layer and the top photo layer, I use the magic wand (usually) and set my forground to white and ctrl/x them out of both layers when I'm done.  I haven't perfected the eraser yet.  So, my question is, after I ctrl/x the 1st hue/sat layer I loose my selection and have to reselect the eyes to cutout the eyes on the top photo layer.  Is there any way to keep my selection in between cutting out layers or am I'm going to have to get over myself and use the eraser?  Thanks Sheri.  Hope everything is going great!  :O)

So...here's my attempt.  It's 11:30 here and this is my 4th or 5th tut tonight!  Lol!  So it's not pretty, but I know how to do it and I used the layer mask!  Boy are those handy!  Thanks Sheri!  :O)

Welcome to CS3!  I'm glad you like it!  WHen you say you are changing your foreground to white, are you using a layer mask on your cut out?

I use the elliptical marquee tool (hold the shift key to select to separate areas).  I then create color balance adjustment layer from the layers palette.  If I want to manipulate the same selection, you can hold down the ctrl key and click the layer mask (while you have the layer with the eyes highlighted) and either create a new adjustment layer or manipulate the layer with the photo on it.

Let me know if that makes sense :)

When I do the eyes, I'm cutting them out.  I wasn't sure if my foreground color needed to be white or not.  But that makes sense if I'm not using a mask, there is no need for that.  I tell you, I have learned so much in the last couple days about masks, and thanks to you, adjustment layers, that I'm finally starting to actually understand it rather than just doing the steps.  For some odd reason, it makes more sense to me in cs3.  Maybe it's just because I'm crazy!  Lol!  Thanks as always for your help!  :O)

You are very welcome.  ITA, masks are way easier in PS.  I never understood how to use them when I was a PSP girl, but once I transitioned to PS, the lightbulb went off.  I use them on everything!  They are so efficient and allow for so much flexibility.  I really couldn't live without them, lol.

I totally agree.  There were several things that didn't make total sense to me in psp and now it's clicked and I acutally *get* it now that I've played in PS.  Where has it been all my life?  Teeheehee!  Now I just need to force myself to go to bed before midnight!  *blushing*
