Hello all, I'm new to this board.  I've been hanging out on the "ttc over 40" board because I'm planning my 2nd baby this fall.  I'm a first time mommy, just gave birth to my daughter in April.  It was a long road.  DH and I have been married for 20 years and put our careers first.  Finally after moving to Montana we decided to settle down and start a family (at the ripe old age of 40!).  Got pg after only 2 tries!  But we lost our sweet boy at 30 weeks, it was a cord accident.  I cannot describe the pain we felt when the doctor couldn't find his heartbeat.  I then found out I had a blood clotting disorder (MTHFR) and that I would have to be on blood thinners if I was to get pg again.  I did get pg again only to have a m/c at 9 weeks.  I was about to give up but decided to try one more time and OH how glad I am that I did!  Was able to get pg again right away and just gave birth to my healthy happy girl!  Thanks to my great high risk OB.  Anyway, I want to give her a sibling so I'm going to try again this fall.  What the heck right?  Why should only young people get to have babies?  My DH and I are going to give these babies a great life, fishing, camping, jeeping, riding dirt bikes, horses, skiing etc...

We're plenty young enough to have great times with our kids!  I'm glad there is a board to talk with other women about what our babies are doing and how they're growing and learning.

hope to get to know some of you and learn some things from you all.

K

Hi K,

So sorry it took so long to post something here. I think this board is getting a new facelift! Hopefully it will be a nice one and gets going strong. I hope you stick around!

My name is Mollie and I am 48 with 4 older sons and stepsons( 19, 22, 27 & 28) and our precious little amazing Gracie 5. I am a SAHM and am going to have a very hard time since my daughter is starting kindergarten this fall. We just moved to NW Florida from Texas and are loving it!!

Hi Mollie, thanks for posting, I'm Kim.  I will stick around because I need all the advice and expertise from you long time mothers.  It's hard being an older mom, because all of my friends have kids grown and graduating from college.  so it's hard for them to remember having a baby and so many things have changed in the last 20 years, so many more things to worry about.

Anyway, I wanted to mention that I am a die hard Miami Dolphins fan!  I know you just moved to Florida, and are probably a Cowboy's fan (or maybe not a fan of football at all), but in case you are, it's good to meet someone from Florida.  I've always wanted to go Tarpon fishing in the Keys, maybe when I retire.  I'm originally from Seattle (well, actually way south of Seattle, Puyallup, WA) and DH and I decided to move to Montana so I could fish in uncrowded rivers and he could hunt in uncrowded forests.  We love it in Montana!   I love the snow (white christmas!) more than the sun.  But I do hate the forest fires we have every year!  We live right up against national forest on 39 acres and I'm always afraid our house will burn up one day!

I've always wanted a little boy, because I'm such a tomboy and I ended up with a baby girl, but she is so sweet!  I love having a baby in my arms but I also can't wait for her to be your daughter's age so we can have fun playing and having mommy daughter time.  I am going to ttc one more time this fall, and you gave me hope that I'll be able to do this at the age of 42-43!  I just hope I have one more healthy egg left!

Well I have to get back to work.  I wish I was a SAHM, but bills must be paid.  So I buy lottery tickets hoping someday I'll get to stay at home!  We have to drive 100 miles a day round trip to work!  luckily DH and I work the same shift so we carpool, but man the gas prices are killing us out here in the boonies!!!

Talk to you later..

Kim

Hi Kim,

I am so happy for you and your baby girl! I know how you are feeling. I think it is tough being an older Mom just because you have to be out there with all the younger Moms... I feel just as young but wished I looked as young as I feel! I loved having boys before and I love having a girl now.

Wow sounds like you are loving Montana! I lived on a 60acre ranch when I was married before. We owned a cutting horse ranch in Texas. The boys grew up on a ranch. I still have one horse that I have hauled around with me forever. She is on her way up from Texas next week. Our last house in Texas we had 6 acres and I had her with me there. When we moved here the plan was to get a few acres but every thing with acreage is way out in the middle of no where. My DH is working alot these days and I just didnt want to have to do it all by myself. We ended up buying in town and I will board my horse with a friend. We live in NW Florida just across the bridge from Destin. It is really paradise.

Gotta take DD to dance class.

~Mollie
