Thanks for asking, I was trying to wait to update until I had pictures of the shower but I still don't have them. My mom took them but has not uploaded them to me yet.
The day started out shaky but ended fabulous. When we got to the church, one lady approached me. She has a severe mental illness and she told me that she had a vision and that the baby's parents were coming and would be a part of her life. I told her that we were her parents and she said that she meant the other ones. I tried to explain that there weren't any others and she said that the baby had to come from somewhere and that if I did not want to believe what heaven told her then that was my problem....I was very upset by this woman and then just realized that God can deal with her and that it must be very sad and difficult to be plagued with this type of challenge.
Dulcie-Ruth did very well during the dedication. She ended up jumping into the preachers arms during the prayer. She left glitter on his suit jacket from her dress. He sparkled for the rest of the service. By the time we were able to take pictures, she was so tired and would not smile at all.
The shower was good, too. I usually do not like being the center of attention but I was able to deflect onto Dulcie-Ruth and I felt completely comfortable. Because of her age she was able to help open some of the presents and it was more like a birthday party then a shower. The best part was when I was holding my 4 week old nephew for the first time. Clint was holding Dulcie-Ruth and she looked over and saw me. She let out the biggest scream. (I immediately gave the baby back to his mom and cuddled with Dulcie-Ruth to reassure her.) She was not happy one bit that I had been holding him. She liked the baby and gave him kisses when her Nana was holding him but did NOT like it when I was holding him. I look at this event as a significant part of our bonding. You cannot be jealous of something you do not care about.
Attached are some photos of the dedication and I will follow later with shower photos when my mom gives them to me. I also added one of the 3 kiddos together because ...well, I wanted to!
